The Problem
A distinctive brand identity was needed for Melio, a sustainable skincare brand built around kindness, inclusivity, and the belief that small human efforts can help make the world better. The brand needed to feel gender-neutral, recognisably Australian, and considered across every touchpoint, from packaging to digital collateral.

Rationale

I was involved in developing a complete brand identity for Melio, shaping a visual system that reflected the brand’s values of sustainability, social responsibility, and inclusivity. The identity was inspired by the meaning behind the name, drawn from “meliorism”, and brought to life through the tagline “Better skin for a kinder world”. A rich purple hero colour was chosen to reference the mangosteen, the brand’s key ingredient, while an earthy Australiana palette drew inspiration from the rainbow bark of eucalyptus. The wordmark was designed to feel simple, warm, and textured, with a flourished “o” subtly referencing the bisection of a mangosteen. My involvement extended across sustainable and refillable packaging, gift boxes, branded social media artwork, eDMs, printed promotional materials, and supporting brand collateral, creating a cohesive identity that felt kind, contemporary, and commercially distinctive.
